We urge anyone who will not be in The Dining Room but still wants the opportunity to appear on stage to audition for the February presentation of Reader's Theater. Lincoln Hills Players Meeting
September 8, 2008
K.S. Presentation Hall

Present: Paul Krow, Kevin Smith, Dave Rich, Sharon Severance, Ron Morris, Audrey Thrall and Frances Swanson.

Meeting was called to order by Lincoln Hills Players President Paul Krow @ 4:09pm.

Special Announcement:
Dan Karleskint, member of Nominating Committee for the 4 Directors of the Board of the Sun City Lincoln Hills Association. Dan asked for people to think about running for the board. He explained what the job of Director is and how important it is. At 2pm September 25th a meeting will be held at the Orchard Creek Lodge Heights Room. This meeting is for information, people can ask present and former board members questions about the position. Anyone interested, have from October 15-November 15 to apply.

A motion was made, seconded and approved to dispense with the reading of minutes. They have been posted on the Players Web site.

The Treasurers Report:
See attached report

Membership Report:
There were 102 members in August 2008. As of today, September 8th the approximate number of members stood at 72. Dues are due and payable this month.

We have two new members; Diane Calmes has worked 32 years of summer stock and Allen Lowe
from New York is interested in Reader’s Theater. President Paul Krow thanked Ron for doing such a great job at being the Membership Chairman.

Old Business:
Dave Rich, producer of August show said the show was a success selling 560 tickets. In addition to the cast, he mentioned the directors Betty Gordon and Fred Ekman, tech crew: lighting, sound, set builder, stage manager with assistants, and makeup volunteers with a total of 40 people participating. That shows how many of our members were involved.

Paul Krow asked for pictures of the following productions so they could be posted on the Players Group Web site. Rehearsal for Murder, The Richard Rogers Show, and Second Lady.
Ron will send out the web address again.

Tony Neighbors, the coordinator for LH Players performances performed at other club meetings announced a performance of a Readers Theater 5 to 5:30 for the Super Seniors @ Dec 12

Jack Swanson reported on the presentation given to the Association Finance Committee Meeting for the ‘09 budget. Jack had done a lot of research for the two screens mounted from the ceiling on either side of the OC ballroom. The plan is to have two projectors, remotely controlled, mounted in ceiling, two remotely controlled 18x zoom cameras mounted in the back of the room., A person will be able to run the system with the aid of a computer and switcher. This will provide a better quality DVD of the Players productions and be sold as part of the wedding package that catering sells. Perhaps they will be installed in time for the November production. Having these screens will eliminate the sets being torn down because the two side screens may be used in lieu of the rear projection screen.

President Paul Krow thanked Dave Rich and Sandy Klugge for combing through our membership list and organizing it. He named each member of the Steering Committee and thanked them for all the work they have done behind the scenes: Secretary Sharon Severance, Audrey Thrall, Publicity Ginny Sutherland, Sandy Mandolfo for sending out good wishes to people who are sick, and Marilyn Wisher for being on the Reading Committee. He had special thanks to Marge Sage for her great costumes and Dolly James for the shows she writes and directs.

New Business:
Kevin Smith announced the election results. A quorum was present with 47 members. The new Executive Board will consist of Angela Blas as President, Toni Neighbors as Vice President, Kathryn Gough, Secretary and Dave Rich as Treasurer. This board will serve a one-year term as outlined in the Players By-Laws. A note was read from Angela about Steering Committee meeting being held at the end of September or 1st week of October.

Tony Neighbors doesn’t know the date the improv class will take place this month, so an email will be sent out at a later date to the membership.

Mary Jo Evans announced she is costume coordinator and would like costumes returned also, there is a pair of earrings that were left over from a production. She is trying to find the owner.

A motion was made and seconded that the meeting adjourn at 4:48pm.

Respectfully submitted,
Sharon Severance
Secretary

Old Business:
Tom Bullock introduced the Lincoln Hills Players Web site. He demonstrated the access links. Paul Krow explained the guidelines and how they will work. There are some people who have not given the Players a bio or picture or both. Tom passed out a form for people who need to know how to give us this information. It was agreed that this is just fabulous and is a work in progress. The can be accessed as the Players Group of Sun City Lincoln Hills. There was a suggestion that the link be attached to the Lincoln Hills Web site.

Dolly James reported on the auditions for the November Players production for players and grandchildren. She announced that Marge Sage has already started on the costumes and that she is doing a wonderful job.

There will be another improv class at Tony Neighbor’s home on August 21 @ 1pm. Charlie Holliday plans on teaching how to prepare for auditions. Dave Rich announced the show, “An Evening at the LBC Studios” on August 20 & 21, at the Orchard Creek Ballroom, doors open at 6:30pm.

New Business:
Audrey Thrall has been asked by a number of Sun City group if the players can provide entertainment for their meetings, nothing more than a 25 minute skit. At first it sounded like a good idea, but after presenting the idea to the Exec Board there were questions about the ramifications of doing something like this. We would need a coordinator and it would need to be free. We would need to get additional rehearsals, and make sure the original cast is available. Tony Neighbors said that she would coordinate it.

Dolly James asked about the ballroom screens, when would they be installed? With shows coming up they would be an asset because the audience in the back can see what is happening onstage. Frances Swanson said that it was as yet undetermined if it was a capital asset at $20,000 approx cost, therefore it needs to be determined if they would be paid for by the association instead of PASC. There was discussion about getting the screens up as soon as possible without going through all the Associations Committees. Frances stated that this is a good idea, everyone likes it, and believe it will bring in additional funds for the association through ballroom rentals, but we need to follow the order of approval…..

New microphones and microphone head gear have been purchased for future shows.

Barbara Greenfield, Director & Producer for the Tap Company Talent show announced auditions for the show will be held Oct 22nd Flyers are available for more information.

The slate of candidates for 2009 Executive Board are as follows: Angela Blas, Pres. Ron Morris and Tony Neighbors, VP; Dave Rich, Treasurer, Kathryn Gough, Secretary. The election will take place at the September meeting, all members in good standing are eligible to vote.

Meeting Adjourned 4:54pm.

Sharon Severance
